Seller's Notes:

I am currently downsizing my Porsche cars and therefore the first one I am putting on eBay is my early 1985 944. The car has been a real joy to have as it brought back memories of my first Porsche a 1984 944. I always thought it would be my first and last, but five Porsches later, I am down to two others. This car was in not the best of shape when I purchased it, the original paint was dull, the clear coating on the rims was shot because of brake dust, the mud guards on the wheel wheels and rear quarters behind the door were shot (they had turned black and had crystalized) (spent weeks removing them), the Porsche black decal across the rear end had been scratched, the tinted windows had failed to the point you could not drive the car as you could not see out the rear window, the dome light did not function, the passenger door window switch did not function, the leather boot on the shifter was worn out, radio antenna was bent over, the front hood shocks were shot (had to hold hood open with a stick), it had a vinyl pinstripe around the whole car (two days to remove it), rear wipe blade was wore out, the electric windshield wipers did not work, the dash cover was cracked in several places, sun visor clips missing, and the A/C did not work. The major items performed: 1. Tail light upgrade – from Only 944 2. Installed a new Dash Mat – from Seat Covers Plus 3. New Front Hood Struts – ebay 4. New Sun Visor Clips – ebay 5. New rear axle boots – ebay 42. New Yokohama Touring P215/60R15 tires – have less than 1,500 miles on them As you can see I put a lot into this car as I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would let a car go to ruin. The PRO’S From the list above you can see I have put a lot of time and effort into bringing this car back to life again. It is joy to drive the engine is strong, the transmission shifts as it should, the brakes now do not deposit a ton of brake dust onto the rims (before the install of the new disks and pads you would have to clean the wheels each time you came home), it gets a lot of looks when I take it to our Thursday night cruise-in. I spent many hours bringing the paint back to life (it is not 100%, but it is getting there). The A/C blows cold and the heat blows a lot of heat. The odometer stopped working after I had car serviced so I parked it until I could get into my mechanic to replace the brakes and have him remove the speedo (the odometer is off probably no more than 100 miles max). All the gauges work as they should, even the clock, the speedo after I got it back from Palo Alto Speedometer the speedometer is now pretty accurate as before it was off by about 5 miles slow. The car has a VERY RARE Sarasto Sunroof (glass)top, which I have only seen one other. The car also has the leather bag to put the top in when removed. The sunroof top does tilt electrically, works fine. The interior is in Fantastic original condition, there are no rips or tears in the leather seats, carpet is also in Great original condition, and the headliner is in Great original condition. The only negative with the interior is the dash. The headlights function as they should they go up and down without any hesitation. All the dash lights and car lights work as they should. The wheel hub caps are painted with metal Porsche logo I painted the brake calipers with two coats of Por-15 paint, hopefully prevent any rust. The CON’S The front air dam as you will see from the pic’s has a lot of chips, also the front of the car has its fair share of stone chips also. The cruise control is not working The rear window electric window wires were damaged removing the old window tint. The windshield washers do not work; I have included a new pump. I think there is an electrical issue somewhere as the small engine hood light does not work either. The windshield wiper motor needs to be removed and cleaned more than I did, it had essentially filled up with rust and would not turn, I know it is good, just needs further cleaning. The windshield has scratches from when it was in Chicago, the PO used a metal scraper to remove snow and/or ice (you can’t fix stupid). The driver side electric mirror does not function via the switch, passenger works fine. The driver side not working didn’t bother me as I could adjust it manually. The cracks in the dash, as I mentioned above. The electrical release for the rear deck is not connected, haven’t been able to get motor and cable synced. The shift indicator light does not work all the time, mostly not, but who needs it, you shift at 4,000rpm. Please if you have any questions, please message me and I will hopefully provide you the answer. You will not be disappointed driving this car.***12-11-17 Note, I just looked at Hagerty values and for a #2 Excellent Condition they value the car at $17,600.00; for a #3 Good Condition they value the car at $6,700.00, therefore I feel my buy it now price of $10,500.00 is right in line with their values. The car is being sold as is, with no written warranty, and no returns. I have the car insured as a Antique or Classic so it does not have to through emissions, bidders need to determine if their state require emission tests on older cars. The car is being advertised locally, so I may cancel the auction at any time. The buyer is responsible for and payment of shipping. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding, the Reserve is set at what I think is a reasonable price based upon what I have invested into the car (you never get out of it what you put into cars).
