We are proud to offer this early production 1965 Ford Mustang D-code opted power top convertible. This example was built on July 27, 1964 at Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan facility and was originally delivered to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area for sale. The early production "64½" Mustangs are already becoming hard to come by but finding one that is opted with the 210HP D code 289 V8 in a convertible with a power top is next to impossible to find! These cars were the original "A code" Mustangs and production was much lower than the following "A code" cars of latter years.Even though the Mustang was introduced five months ahead of the traditional 1965 model year and fans popularly proclaimed early models as 1964 ½, all production cars received 1965 VINs and were marketed as 1965 models. This particular early example has had the same loving, careful owner since 1979! The term "1964 ½" was coined by Mustang enthusiasts to identify these early 1965 model year cars.Finished in Wimbledon White (code M), this car’s paint and trim are in very good condition. The windshield and side glass are clear and intact. The pony’s lights are also clear and in one piece, including the taillights with the “64” stamped on the left and right units. The car rolls on whitewall tires with factory deluxe wheel covers and both tires and wheels are in very good condition. All of the Mustang’s body panels are solid and straight overall but there are some minor blemishes obvious at close range. The contrasting power-folding top is in good order and there’s a blue tonneau cover to use when the top is folded down. The bumpers are in very good condition, the engine bay is very tidy and the battery looks very good while the trunk is in good order and features a full-sized spare tire. Even the smaller Mustang logos on the front fenders look good.As advertised on the front fenders, under the hood is a D code 289 CID V-8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor producing 210HP breathing through a single exhaust pipe. This Mustang still retains a lot of its 1964 ½ details such as the engine has a factory generator, the valve covers are painted gold, battery cooling vents (louvers), horns located inside the engine compartment with correct relay, Falcon gauge bezel with GEN light, “A” on the vent knob and the correct peddles and window handles.Inside, the blue interior, (code 82) with its blue crinkle vinyl seats, is in overall very good condition and mostly appears very original. The seats look great, front and rear; the matching carpet is in similar great shape. The blue instrument panel is in very good order. Mustang purists will note that this car has Ford Falcon gauge bezels and there is a generator idiot light on the instrument panel and the accelerator and brake pedals lack stainless steel surrounds. Also, the horn is inoperable. However, the three-spoke steering wheel looks as iconic now as it did when new. The inner door panels are in overall good condition though some paint chipping is evident and there are a couple of other, minor blemishes inside. The mirror glass and shift lever are in good shape and finishing off the interior is a factory AM radio.Introduced early on April 17, 1964, (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda) and thus dubbed as a "1964½" by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations since then and is the only current pony car to boast continuous production since its launch. In fact, the Mustang created the pony car class of American automobiles – affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short rear decks and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Dodge Challenger and Plymouth Barracuda plus a twin from 1979 to 1986 in the Mercury Capri. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 96,439 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. About Motoexotica History MotoExotica.com is a licensed bonded dealer through the state of Missouri. We have been in business since 1988 selling high end, special interest, pre-owned and exotic vehicles. With the advent of the Internet and EBay Motors, we have found an avenue that allows us to sell cars we normally purchased for ourselves. We have owned just about every exotic and luxury car known to man; such as ISO Grifo to Jaguar XKE, Lamborghini Countach and Rolls Royce. In the past, these cars were sold primarily through Hemmings Motor News and through word of mouth. We would normally keep a car and enjoy it personally for 6 – 18 months. However, with listing cars on EBay Motors, our turnover has tremendously increased. Now, the average time we hold a car is 4 – 6 weeks! With the increase in turnover has come the increased need of fine automobiles. We are constantly looking for exceptional cars and travel the country coast to coast in search of the rare and unusual. We find our cars through individuals like yourselves as well as classic car and dealers auctions. We do not purchase vehicles that we would not be proud to own ourselves. For a quote on shipping anywhere in the world, please feel free to email us at sales@Motoexotica.com or call 636-600-4600. We will give you an estimated cost for open and enclosed transport or overseas. We are happy to accommodate our international buyers! Over the last several decades we have exported thousands of cars to Norway, Germany, Estonia, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, Costa Rica, Brazil, British Columbia, Canada and many other locations around the world. Overseas shipments will be placed into a steel container for safe sea passage or optional roll-on/roll-off (RoRo). We take care of all the details and paperwork. All you have to do is collect the car at your nearest port and enjoy! Please note that we are not a transport company and only offer this service as a convenience to our customers. You are more than welcome to arrange your own shipping. Transportation will commence only after final payment and signed documentation are received. We offer financing through many of the best lenders in the industry. They are currently offering very attractive rates for all collector and special interest automobiles. With loan amounts from $10,000 to $500,000, and flexible terms of up to 12 years, you can finance the car of your dreams. Call us at 636-600-4600 for additional details.
